Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before using The Myelin.

About the tools
The Myelin analyzes your content across three dimensions: Clarity (how easy it is for your audience to understand and retain), Influence (how effectively it moves your audience toward a behavior or decision), and Integrity (whether the content respects your audience's right to make an informed decision, scoring for fear-based framing, exploitation of cognitive biases, and honest representation of uncertainty). Each dimension is scored on a 1–10 scale based on established frameworks from cognitive psychology, behavioral science, and medical communication research.
Scores are calibrated on an absolute scale, a 5 means genuinely average medical communication, not a bad result. After the audit, you see both the original scores and the optimized scores side by side, so you can see exactly what improved and why.
The Content Auditor takes a piece of content you've already written and generates an optimized version with justifications. The Idea Generator takes a research article, PDF, or URL and gives you four starting points for your own content, tailored to your voice and audience: a guide to build on, not finished content. One improves what you have. The other helps you find what to create next.
Your voice and the AI
That's the core design principle. The Myelin uses the brand profile you set up during onboarding (your idiolect, tone, phrases you use, and things you'd never say) to calibrate every output. The goal is to sound like a better version of the same doctor, not a generic health influencer.
Both, depending on the tool. The Auditor works with content you already have. The Idea Generator helps you find what to create from research you're already reading. In both cases, The Myelin functions as a thought partner, not a ghostwriter. The clinical knowledge, the final voice, and the publishing decision are always yours.
The Myelin uses a mix of models, chosen per tool for the reasoning it requires: the Content Auditor runs on Claude Haiku 4.5, the Compliance Scanner runs on Claude Sonnet 4.5 for its stronger multi-step reasoning, and the Idea Generator runs on Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite. The intelligence of the system comes primarily from the frameworks and methodologies built into The Myelin's prompts, not just the raw model.
Privacy and safety
No. The Myelin does not store the content you submit. We only store your email address and the brand profile you create during onboarding. We do not use your content to train AI models. We log anonymized usage metadata (content format, language, audience type) to understand how the tools are being used, never what you wrote.
The Myelin is designed for public-facing content, posts, articles, newsletters, video scripts. It is not designed for patient records or clinical notes. We recommend always using anonymized, deidentified content. If you have doubts about the content you want to paste you can use our Risk Checker.
The Myelin is a content communication tool for physician creators, not a clinical or patient data platform. It does not process, store, or transmit protected health information (PHI). As a best practice, do not submit any patient-identifiable information through the platform.
Professional responsibility
You are. The Myelin is a communication support tool, it helps you say what you know more effectively. It does not verify clinical facts, replace your medical judgment, or take responsibility for published content. Every output is a reference that requires your review and verification before use.
Medical boards regulate the practice of medicine, not communication tools. The risk arises if you publish content that is clinically inaccurate or misleading, regardless of whether AI was involved. The standard applies to the content you publish under your name, not the tools you used to write it.
Credits and plans
One credit = one tool execution. Running the Content Auditor uses 1 credit. Generating ideas uses 1 credit. Viewing your profile or navigating the platform does not consume credits.
Yes. Both tools support English and Spanish. You can set the output language independently for each session.
The tools will stop working until you top up or upgrade your plan. You can see your remaining credits at any time in the status bar at the top of the page.

What does jurisdiction mean here?

Your selection tells the AI which professional ethics codes, privacy frameworks, and advertising standards to apply when reviewing your content. This is not a legal review, it's a calibrated pattern check based on what medical communications professionals and regulators in your region commonly flag.

What every region checks

Patient privacy, patterns that could identify a real patient, even without a name. Consent standards are near-universal across all medical ethics frameworks.

Medical claims, absolute efficacy language, guarantees, or statistics without citations. Evidence-based communication standards are shared by virtually all national medical associations.

Missing disclaimers, content that gives specific diagnostic or treatment guidance without noting it doesn't replace a personal consultation.

Advertising ethics, testimonials implying typical outcomes, comparative claims about other providers, or manipulative urgency in health decisions.

Content tone, result guarantees, false urgency, absolutist language, or fear-based framing inconsistent with ethical medical communication.

What changes by region

Universal / My country isn't listed WMA · WHO · GDPR-tier privacy

Applies principles shared across virtually all national medical ethics systems: WMA (World Medical Association) Declaration of Lisbon, WHO health communication ethics, and GDPR-equivalent privacy standards. Calibrated toward what any internationally trained medical communications professional would flag, regardless of local law. Use this if your country isn't listed, the core checks still apply everywhere.

United States FTC · FDA · AMA

Applies FTC guidelines on health advertising (endorsements, testimonials, substantiation), FDA standards on drug and device claims, and AMA Code of Medical Ethics for professional communication. State options (CA, NY, FL, TX) add the relevant state medical board advertising rules on top of federal standards.

Canada PIPEDA · Health Canada · ASC

Applies PIPEDA for patient data patterns, Health Canada standards for therapeutic claims, and Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) codes for health advertising. Provincial options layer in additional privacy legislation (PHIPA in Ontario, PIPA in BC/AB, Loi 25 in Quebec) and provincial college advertising guidelines.

Latin America WMA · PAHO/WHO · general guidelines

General guidelines only. The country-specific options for Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina are based on publicly available information and have not been reviewed by local legal counsel. WMA and PAHO/WHO universal principles are used as the primary framework for all LatAm selections. For content with significant legal exposure, consult a local medical communications attorney.

All LatAm options apply WMA principles and PAHO/WHO health communication ethics as the primary baseline, the same universal framework used for patient privacy, medical claims, and advertising ethics. Country-specific selections calibrate tone and context but do not apply verified local law. If your country isn't listed, "Universal / My country isn't listed" or "Latin America, General" will give you a sound universal screening.

Spain / EU GDPR · AEMPS · OMC

Applies GDPR Article 9 (special category health data) for patient privacy, the strictest privacy standard available. AEMPS (Agencia Española de Medicamentos) standards for pharmaceutical claims. OMC Código Deontológico for professional communication ethics. Relevant for physicians practicing anywhere in the EU.

United Kingdom GMC · MHRA · ASA/CAP

Applies GMC Good Medical Practice guidelines for professional communication, MHRA standards for medicines and device claims, ASA/CAP advertising codes for healthcare content, and UK GDPR for patient data patterns.

Australia AHPRA · TGA · Privacy Act

Applies AHPRA and MBA Guidelines for advertising regulated health services (one of the most specific advertising frameworks for physicians globally), TGA standards for therapeutic goods claims, and the Privacy Act 1988 for patient data patterns.

Your jurisdiction selection is not stored. It is sent only to the AI as context for this screening session and is not linked to your account or content.
